The NH Local Government Center in Concord, NH, seeks an enthusiastic writer and editor to join a team dedicated to maximizing the visibility of the Local Government Center’s programs and services with Members and the general public, enhancing the public’s understanding and support of those services, and coordinating the creation of information material for all related programs. This position supports the Editor in Chief in editing, writing, and coordinating all aspects of New Hampshire Town and City magazine and all LGC content. The Communications Specialist writes, edits and coordinates development and production of LGC promotional, informational and educational publications and online media; develops, writes, solicits, and places newspaper feature stories and guest columns on LGC initiatives and programs; uses mediums to enhance the public’s image of the LGC and further enhance name recognition; develops and implements communication strategies that explain LGC service products, and innovations; encourages Member participation, using a variety of media such as print, video, the Internet and one-on-one meetings with officials.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or related field, supplemented by coursework in web copywriting and copyediting. Five years of experience in writing and editing. Experience in State or local government preferred. In lieu of the above, any equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered at the discretion of LGC.
