Graphic Designer - Part Time

Saint Anselm College

Work 18 hours per week under the direction of Director of Publications. Assist in the design and production of catalogs, booklets, and promotional materials such as flyers, ads, brochures, signage, exhibits, and/or displays consistent with the college image and brand, and in support of college admission, fundraising, marketing and other college initiatives.

You will collaborate closely with faculty, staff and others to in order to achieve department goals. Determine size, selection, arrangement and adaptations of required illustrative material and copy, select style and size of type, and arrange layout based upon available space and aesthetic design concepts in line with client needs. Applying desktop publishing skills, layout and typography skills, as well as an understanding of design, font, color and other design elements, you will create and produce clean, effective designs, working continuously with the client(s) to present ideas and proofs and making modifications as appropriate in order to assure the end product meets the highest of quality standards along with specifications, requirements and deadlines. You will also serves as a liaison between the client, printers and others to coordinate the printing production process to ensure quality and timeliness. You will communicate printing and other reproduction specifications, inspect proofs for accuracy, and work with the Director of Publications to recommend printers, illustrators, photographers, and other contractors as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design (or related field), plus 3-5 years of design/production experience at a fast-paced agency, design firm or in-house design setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of and proficiency with desktop publishing software (Adobe InDesign Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, Windows XP and general system maintenance).
  • Demonstrated ability for innovation in both design and process, using a range of media, methods and equipment; clear understanding of essentials of layout and design, keen eye for font, color and other design elements, knowledge of current design and illustration trends.
  • Knowledge of print and/or reproduction specifications, processes and techniques.
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a high volume, fast-paced environment; able to adapt to changing requirements/schedules while meeting deadlines; strong time management/prioritizing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with a collaborative and flexible work style; ability to interpret user graphic requirements and to communicate well with non-designers.
  • Able to follow instruction; must work well both independently and effectively in a team environment.
  • Rigorous attention to detail and overall commitment to quality.

Applicants must include 3 samples of work; those selected for an interview will be required to present a portfolio at the time of interview.
