The Public Relations Manager will play an integral role on our Marketing Communications team helping to increase brand awareness and corporate visibility for Constant Contact products and market leadership initiatives. The ideal candidate is passionate about media relations, wants to take his/her career in public relations to the next level and thrives on working in an extremely fast-paced and energetic environment.  Candidates must have a strong track record of success in securing national, regional, and trade press opportunities across multiple media channels – including print, broadcast and online, as well as a working knowledge of social media. This position reports to the Senior Communications Manager.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Manage Constant Contact’s media relations program to generate quality media and blog coverage highlighting the company’s various topics and initiatives, including (but not limited to) corporate, product, partner, customers, external education, technology leadership, small business best practices, and thought leadership.
  • Proactively pitch media and respond to media inquiries in a timely, professional manner; staff media interviews with company executives.
  • Prepare executive and SME spokespeople for print and broadcast interviews; conduct message and media training.
  • Assist with the creation of strategic media relations campaigns that promote Constant Contact’s products, KnowHow and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Develop media relations plans and campaigns to support key initiatives such as product launches and thought leadership campaigns.
  • Support relevant media activities related to the company’s presence at speaking opportunities, conferences and events.
  • Participate in day-to-day marketing communications team activities, in collaboration with internal PR, editorial and marketing teams.
  • Research, write and/or edit press materials, including (but not limited to): press releases, pitches, fact sheets, press kits, Q&As, media alerts, briefing materials, speaking points, key messages, and presentations.
  • Deliver concise, timely, and informative reporting on press activities, coverage secured, current opportunities, and successes internally.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a press release schedule and editorial calendar tracking and pitching.
  • Manage media database/lists; update on a timely basis.
  • Create and maintain key media/blogger relationships using traditional communication channels and social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Participate in PR planning and strategy development.

Knowledge/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related area, such as marketing, communications, public relations, or English.
  • Media relations pro with 10+ years experience in public relations in a corporate or agency environment; must have a proven track record in all aspects of securing and managing high quality/high volume media and blog coverage.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and hard-working, with strong problem solving, creative thinking and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional writing and communications skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Organized and able to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.Excellent computer knowledge/skills (MS Office, etc.); knowledge of Cision and Radian6 a plus.
  • Experience working with consumer, technology (Internet or SaaS brands), nonprofits and/or small businesses a plus.
