Tales from the Front Line: Lessons in Crisis Communications

Experience is said to be the best teacher.  Please join us as Rosemarie Rung shares lessons from her experience as a crisis communicator for The Dow Chemical Company, as well as highlighting lessons from Desert Storm, school shootings, and the recent Toyota recall.  Learn what makes a spokesperson credible, the components of an effective plan, and how to dampen media sensationalism.  We will also discuss strategies to use crises to help strengthen your corporate reputation.  It can be done!

Rosemarie Rung is a former Public Affairs leader for The Dow Chemical Company, where she managed crisis communications, media relations, community relations, and employee communications for Dow’s non-integrated sites throughout the US.  Her career includes global project leadership for several mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and shutdowns, as well as Dow’s Contributing to Community Success, a 2015 Sustainability Goal.  She served as global communications leader for Dow’s Performance Chemicals portfolio, in addition to other previous roles.

Rosemarie is a member of the Yankee Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, currently serving as secretary.

DIRECTIONS TO FIDELITY INVESTMENTS

Driving/parking directions from the Everett Turnpike heading South:

Take the Turnpike going south.

Take exit 10, Merrimack.

At the end of the exit turn right onto Industrial Drive.

At first set of lights turn left onto Spartan Way.

Follow Spartan Way straight through the first roundabout.

At the second roundabout, follow it 3/4 of the way around to enter the main driveway for Fidelity.

Proceed to the stop sign (Fidelity’s One Spartan Way building will be in front of you) and take a right. Visitor parking is immediately on your right.
